NONE OF THOSE WERE RETURNED. SO THIS IS ONE OF SEVERAL BUNGALOWS THAT ALEXANDER MCCLELLAN BUILT IN THE TRADITIONAL CRAFTSMAN STYLE, OR 1914, WITH 2 IDENTICAL BUNGALOWS TO THE NORTH AND ONE TO THE SOUTH.

ACTUALLY IT SHOULD BE 1 TO THE 1 TO THE SOUTH AND 2 TO THE NORTH.

AS RENTAL PROPERTIES EACH BUNGALOW HAD METAL ROOFING CONSISTS OF 5 ROOMS, 1 CLOSET.

THEY'RE ALL IDENTICAL RENTAL PROPERTIES. HE WAS BORN IN 1864, IN CANADA.

AND OWNED MCCLELLAN ELECTRIC COMPANY AT 2105 POST OFFICE.

HE WAS ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR BY TRADE. THIS PARTICULAR HOUSE IS MOST CLOSELY ASSOCIATED WITH THE LONG TERM OWNER, ROYAL WILLIS. WILLIS AND HIS WIFE, NONIE. THEY ARE BOTH MEMBERS OF CENTRAL METHODIST CHURCH.

BOTH HEAVILY INVOLVED MULTIPLE ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS THE MASONIC ORDER, ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR, SHRINERS HOSPITAL, NONIE VOLUNTEERED AT THE SHRINERS BURN HOSPITAL AT UTMB IN GALVESTON FROM 1962 UNTIL 2013, AND WAS AWARDED THE GALVESTON DAILY NEWS UNSUNG HEROES AWARD FOR HER SERVICE IN 2006.

SO THIS BUNGALOW FEATURES MUCH OF ITS HISTORIC CHARACTER AS A CRAFTSMAN STYLE BUNGALOW ARCHITECTURAL STYLE THAT WAS POPULAR FROM THE END OF THE VICTORIAN ERA, WELL INTO THE 1930S. NOTE ALSO THAT IN 2023, THE BUNGALOW TO THE SOUTH, ALSO BUILT BY MCLENNAN, WAS DESIGNATED AS A GALVESTON HISTORIC LANDMARK PROPERTY.

THE PROPERTY IS NOT LOCATED IN HISTORIC DISTRICT IS ELIGIBLE FOR FINANCIAL INCENTIVES FOR HISTORIC PROPERTIES.

LANDMARK COMMISSION RECOMMENDED APPROVAL OF THIS REQUEST IN THE DECEMBER 15TH, 2025 MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL WILL HAVE THE FINAL DECISION AT THEIR REGULAR MEETING OF JANUARY 22ND, 2026. STAFF RECOMMENDS APPROVAL WITH THE STANDARD CONDITION THE STAFF REPORT.

AND RATHER THAN BRING ALL THAT TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION, YOU WERE LOOKING AT HOW YOU COULD MAKE THOSE ADMINISTRATIVE AS OPPOSED TO HAVING EVERYTHING ON OUR PLATE. DOES THAT RING A BELL? I DON'T THINK THAT'S A DISCUSSION WE'VE HAD ABOUT PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENTS. WE MOSTLY TALKED ABOUT THE PROLIFERATION OF THEM.

SO AND I THINK WHAT WE HAD TALKED ABOUT WAS THIS IDEA THAT, YOU KNOW, WHEN SOMEBODY COMES ALONG AND THEY WANT TO BUILD A HOUSE, YOU KNOW, ON THAT 1ST ROW, AND WE'VE GOT A BEACH THAT'S, YOU KNOW, HEAVILY ERODING ALREADY, YOU KNOW, WHAT ARE WE LOOKING AT HERE IN ORDER TO APPROVE THOSE SORT OF PERMITS? AND ONE OF THE CASES, IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY THERE WERE NO DUNES VERSUS, YOU KNOW, SOME DUNES.

AND WE THOUGHT, WELL, YOU KNOW, HOW DO YOU BUILD UP A DUNE AND THEN EXPECT SOMEBODY TO MAINTAIN THAT IF THEIR NEIGHBORS DON'T ALSO HAVE DUNES?
